Ava is hosting a girls’ night, and the house rule is right there in the title: her boyfriend gets sent off to the bedroom. The movie has been running for barely twenty minutes when Ava falls asleep on the couch, and that is all the opening Camilla needs. She is Ava’s best friend and, awkwardly, the boyfriend’s stepsister, and she heads down the hall with mischief on her mind and one line ready: “You’re allowed now, stepbro.”

Why this new series is absolutely wild

Most stepsibling stories on Candy need a summer trip or a spare room to get going. Boys Not Allowed needs a sleepy girlfriend and a closed bedroom door, and that is exactly why it works. Everything happens under one roof on one night, with Ava asleep a few rooms away, so the risk of getting caught is built into the premise rather than bolted on.

The clever part is who makes the move. Camilla is not a stranger from a party; she is his stepsister and his girlfriend’s closest friend, which gives the series two lines to cross at once. Turning Ava’s ban into an invitation is the kind of cheeky reversal that makes a five-episode story easy to start. The poster sets the mood: a dark-haired woman in an ivory satin slip up front, two friends in satin robes on the sofa behind her and, peering over their shoulders, the only man in the room.
